Ava Hess

Ava is an interdisciplinary researcher and curator born and raised in Los Angeles. She has worked with both historical and contemporary art collections, often with a focus on artists of West Asian and North African descent. With an academic background positioned between art history, anthropology and area studies, she is interested in how radical curatorial practice and intervention can help reshape the role played by museums in the 21st century, challenge traditional classification systems, and allow for multivocality in place of singular narratives. Ava works and lives in New York.
