Zulu Mbaye

Zulu Mbaye is a Senegalese painter. He was initiated into art making in 1970 during Professor Pierre lods’ open workshops which he continued for close to a decade. At the end of the 1970s he began creating tapestry models pour the Senegalese Manufacturers of Decorative Arts of Thies, whilst also participating in the second and third editions of the Senegalese Salon of Artists. An active figure in the cultural sphere, between 1987 and 1989 Mbaye was the president of the National Association of Artists of Senegal. He exhibited at the first Dakar Biennial in 1992, a period during which he started showing his works abroad, from Buenos Aires to Baltimore. He continues to exhibit in Senegal and elsewhere, whether in solo or collective exhibitions. Mbaye lives and works in Dakar.
