Noemi Niederhauser

Noemi Niederhauser (b.1984, Bern, Switzerland) is based between Athens (Greece) and Lausanne (Switzerland). She holds an MFA in Fine Arts from Central Saint Martins, London, (United Kingdom, 2014) and previously completed a B.A in Product Design within the Ceramic Department of the Applied Art School of Vevey (Switzerland, 2010). She is the co-founder and curator of an artist run project space in Athens: A-DASH (http:// a-dash.space). Noemi Niederhauser is a visual artist, a designer, a curator, a potter, a mushroom farmer, a lyrics writer; all of those layers often overlap and sometimes stay separated within her arts-based practice and research.

Choreographing making and meaning in hybrid ways, her practice engages with the symbolics embedded in materials and artefacts in relation to time and history. Dancing across the blurred boundaries between art, craft and design, the visual propositions and performative installations she develops deal with the idea of perspective, enhanced vision and perception (both visual and historical). She is a 2016-2017 recipient of the Pro Helvetia Research Grants and Awards. Her work has been exhibited internationally in galleries, museums and institutions such as; Documenta 14, Athens; The Centre for Sustainable Fashion and Arts Council (United Kingdom); the MUDAC, Lausanne; the Victoria & Albert Museum, London and the MCBA, Lausanne. Recent exhibitions and residencies include; A-Lethia, Documenta 14, Athens; Art for the Environment Residency (United Kingdom) in partnership with Berengo glass studio, Murano (Italy); Akureyri Art Museum, Akureyri (Iceland); ACAC Contemporary Art Center, Aomori (Japan); Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
