LIR

LIR is a curatorial collective composed of Mira Asriningtyas and Dito Yuwono, with a focus on research-based art projects presented with an experimental artistic approach. They have divided their project platform into 3 parts: Exhibition Laboratory as an alternative art education program, The Observant Club as an artistic research platform, and Curated by LIR as an experimental artistic presentation and exhibition platform.

Mira Asriningtyas (b.1986) works as an independent curator and art writer in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. She was part of Cemeti Art House Young Curators Forum (Yogyakarta, 2013); 4A Curators Intensive (Sydney, 2014) and the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Curator Residency Program (Turin, 2018). She is a graduate of the De Appel Curatorial Program 2016/2017, Amsterdam.

Dito Yuwono (b.1985) works as a visual artist-curator in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. In the past five years, Dito has undertaken numerous residencies as part of his artistic practice; such as Ruang Rupa, Indonesia, Village Video Festival-Jatiwangi Art Factory, and Goleb Project, Amsterdam. Some of his latest projects are Recollecting Memories: Tukang Foto Keliling (Ruang Rupa-Jakarta, 2015), and The First Political Space Called Home (Cemeti Institute for Art and Society-Yogyakarta, 2017).

In 2011, they founded an independent art space that aims to build a supportive and positive environment for young artists in Yogyakarta. LIR Space focuses on a laboratory platform for alternative education for young artists, and creating research-based art projects. Aside from this, they are preparing the second edition of a  site-specific project called 900mdpl at Kaliurang, a resort village under an active volcano Mount Merapi, Indonesia with an aim to plant the seed of a regional biennale.
