Felipe Steinberg

Felipe Steinberg is an interdisciplinary artist from Brazil, currently living between New York and São Paulo. He is a participant at the Whitney Independent Study Program in New York (2019), was a participant at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2014), Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts (2019), and was a fellow at the Core Program at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston (2018). Steinberg holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2016), a BA in Social Communication from Faculdade Cásper Líbero (2009). He also attended the University of São Paulo, Bachelor in Philosophy (2005-2010). His work proposes considerations on constructed meanings of the local and the global through actions of decontextualization and re-contextualization between social spaces and interpersonal encounters by the use of various types of media and systems of circulation – labor, goods, affects, populations and information. Steinberg work has been presented internationally in venues such as Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Museu Oscar Niemeyer, Museu de Arte Moderna Aloísio Magalhães, Socrates Sculpture Park, Anthology Film Archives, Grimm Museum, Texas Biennial, Visual Arts Center - University of Texas, 1After320 and SESC.
