Shirin Sabahi

I grew up in Tehran, studied fine arts in Malmo and now live in Berlin as an artist and filmmaker. Working with and around moving images, my projects often derive from a physical place and include films about artifacts and architecture and their legibility and outreach. My body of work to this day contains various by-products that come sometimes alongside or in place of the actual film: flip-books, subtitles, props, costumes and other things. Aside from the collective labor of film, I occasionally collaborate with other artists, architects, art historians, musicians, and writers. Since 2017, I have been organizing the series of events called PLACES at various venues in Berlin, where speakers are invited to present a place, imagined or otherwise.
