We are glad to announce a new public program entitled Cultural Policy that is grounded in a focused reflection on "Cultural Policies in Senegal: Heritage, Stakes and Challenges".
The first series of the Cultural Policy program focuses on the overarching theme "Cultural Policies in Senegal: Legacies, Stakes, and Challenges," conceived in resonance with Aboubacar Demba Cissokho, a Senegalese journalist specializing in "Arts and Culture" and a collaborator of RAW Material Company for the entire Cultural Policy program.
A historical and informed exploration of the Senegalese cultural landscape allows us to immerse ourselves in a way that awakens a sensitivity to the deep echo of the political and governmental foundations that underpin the vitality of contemporary artistic creation. Our ambition is to emphasize the essential role of arts and culture, anchors of history and vectors of Senegal's continuous development.
Our launch, on February 13th, 2026, was a retrospective reflection on the different political eras, from Senghor to the present day. We traced the foundational chapters and lines of our cultural policy. Moderated by Prof. Babacar Mbaye Diop, this event was enriched by the valuable perspectives of Ms. Ndeye Khoudia Diagne and Prof. Ibrahima Wane.
These meetings are intended to be spaces for exchange and elucidation, hubs where expertise flourishes to address fundamental questions: Who initiates and which forces ensure the sustainability of our cultural and artistic ecosystem? How do we name the essence and the intrinsic value of cultural and artistic legacies?

Amoonafi, a film by Bara Diokhane (Senegal. Society, Feature Film, Documentary, 1h54, 2024)
Synopsis:
The evolution of contemporary art in Senegal and the status of the artist in society.
Young artists and young lawyers frequented the art world, crossing paths in the same cafes in downtown Dakar. The film analyzes Senegalese cultural life over several decades, addressing controversial periods (the filming of "Thiaroye 44" taken up by Sembène and Thierno Faty Sow, where Bara Diokhané confronted the State of Senegal, in his capacity as a lawyer).
