An opportunity to revisit the journey of Iba N'Diaye, a major figure in modern Senegalese art, and to reflect on how these schools, histories, and transmissions continue to shape the present.
Synopsis:
During an interview with filmmaker Paulin Vieyra, the painter Iba N'Diaye looks back on the major periods of his life. He first recounts his childhood in Senegal and his studies at the Lycée Faidherbe in Saint-Louis, where he was already drawn to drawing and graphic design. He then left for France, where he chose to settle. Zadkine then became his teacher. African nature and its vast horizons remained, however, his main source of inspiration. Iba N'Diaye passed away on October 4, 2008, at the age of 80 in Paris. He exhibited his works all over the world.
